Driftcon® system

The DRIFTCON system is a basic end user thermocycler calibration system that allows laboratories to perform thermocyclers calibrations in house. The system is available with a variety of sensors set to allow calibration of virtually any thermocycler. The configuration can be fine tuned to the thermocyclers available in the laboratory. The system is designed in such a way that the laboratory technican only needs to put the sensors in the thermocycler block, enter a temperature protocol in the thermocycler and then start both thermocycler and DRIFTCON system. The analysis of the data is completely automated and generating the calibration report is one button operation, excluding mistakes in data transfer or analysis.
The DRIFTCON system measures and analyses thermocycler accuracy, uniformity, heat rate, cool rate, overshoot, undershoot and hold time. Furthermore DRIFTCON allows analysis of temperature drift over time.
The system automatically compares to specifications and reports automatically if your thermocycler is in or out of specifications.
You can download a free demo version of the software by clicking here.

If you want to use the DRIFTCON system under accreditation your will need to be qualified for performing thermocycler calibrations. The qualification can be obtained by following a CYCLERtest qualification training.

CYCLERtest qualification trainings

CYCLERtes offers a number of trainings to laboratories that use a DRIFTCON system or take the CYCLERtest on site thermocycler calibration service into account.

DRIFTCON basic user training
The DRIFTCON basic user training focusses on the basic functionalities of the DRIFTCON system. It is a hands on training that focuses on the performance of a thermocycler calibration and generation a calibration report.

DRIFTCON advanced user training
The DRIFTCON advanced user training focusses on calibrating against application specifications instead of instrument specifications. Application specifications can be used for analytical assay validation purposes. Instead of qualifying the PCR assay as being suitable for a particular thermocycler, the thermocycler is qualified to be suitable for a particular PCR assay. The approach allows laboratories to use the full capacity of its thermocyclers.

ISO compliant use of DRIFTCON
Using a DRIFTCON system under ISO accreditation goes beyond a system calibration traceable to the ITS-90. This training focusses on all aspects that an ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory or ISO 15189 accredited medical laboratory needs to put in place to be able to perform its own in house calibrations that meet the requirements of a traceable calibration according to th ISO 17025.

Interpretation of thermocycler calibration results
Both the ISO 17025 and ISO 15189 require calibration of thermocyclers, but also check against specification, method validation and daily QC of PCR.

This training focuses on the interpretation of thermocycler calibration results in absolute sense and in comparison to specifications as set by the laboratory, but also how the calibration results can be used for method validation and daily QC.

It allows you to get the maximum out of CYCLERtest thermocycler calibration reports.
