    Why?

Thermal cycling (PCR®) and other temperature related amplification techniques can be categorized as standard technology in biotechnical research and diagnostic applications. It becomes more and more important to validate the equipment used for these applications. Even more since the results of these tests already have a growing impact on our society. It is our mutual obligation to make sure that the used thermal equipment is accurate and frequently checked or calibrated if necessary. This statement is supported by a number of standards like GLP, GMP, ISO, Ster Lab etc. to which laboratories and institutions need to comply nowadays.
